We watched this documentary together in the Pear Tree of the student union.

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45. A fact that myself and many others found particularly harrowing. I think this is because women will talk about their feelings whilst men always “say I’m fine” When asked. It is often the misconception that crying, especially in front of others, is “girly” and not socially acceptable for men.

6000 people take their life in Britain every year, 80% of those are male and it’s getting worse.

When Stephen Manderson was only 24 his dad Peter took his own life, just two years before Peter’s own brother also took his own life.

Stephen has often suffered from depression and still has feelings of anxiety. He now knows that he was always an anxious child. This was due to growing up with absent parents…

November is a very special month. We’re celebrating the very first Festival of Drabbles!!! If you’re not familiar with drabbles, (like, seriously?) drabbles are stories which are written in exactly 100 words. Before my short stories got published, I practiced writing fiction by creating 100-word stories. My love affair with 100-word tales began when I joined this group called Friday Fictioneers hosted by the lovely Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Damn I miss FF! In fact, some of the bloggers participating in the Festival of Drabbles 2015 are old friends from Friday Fictioneers (Hi Björn and Suzanne!)

I’m not sure if you know this but my very first published piece is actually a drabble which I entered in a contest hosted by Popcorn Horror UK. LE GUN Workshop. 

Established in 2004, art collective LE GUN create idiosyncratic imagery which blends a punk, occult, pop and surrealist aesthetic. As well as being the producers of their cult self-titled magazine, the group is internationally recognised for their enigmatic installations and art shows. 
We were lucky enough to spend the day with Rob and Neil on a 20ft long project as a collaborative group of 12 students and two staff.
